Trauma & EMDR
Trauma-informed counselling and EMDR.
Trauma can affect how you feel, think, relate to others and experience your body. It may come from a single event, repeated experiences, childhood abuse, domestic violence, sexual abuse, loss, or situations where you felt unsafe, powerless or overwhelmed.
A trauma-informed approach means we work carefully, safely and at your pace. You will not be pushed to talk about anything before you are ready.
EMDR can be helpful for some people who are struggling with the impact of traumatic experiences. It is a structured therapy approach that supports the brain to process distressing memories and reduce their emotional intensity.
A note on safety
- EMDR may help some people process traumatic memories.
- Together, we can explore whether EMDR feels appropriate for you.
- Your safety, choice and pace remain central.
